Dear Fellow Sanilac Democrats and Friends:    You have probably received many appeals for financial support from political candidates, but, as the late Tip O’Neill said, “all politics is local.” And so it is, right here in Sanilac County. Thanks to your support, we in Sanilac elected our first Democrat in history to the legislature —-John Espinoza, who is doing a great job and is much admired by his fellow legislators. We won in 2004, but the Republicans in Lansing have declared they will retake this seat. We will again be outspent, but, with your support, John and the Sanilac Democratic Party will carry out a full court campaign to protect his seat and to help other Democrats win election. Our 2008 program includes working in behalf of John Espinoza, U.S.Senator Carl Levin and Bob Denison, Sad to say, Miller has become a clone of President Bush, doing nothing to restore our massive job losses, voting in lockstep for tax cuts for the fatcats, undercutting veteran programs and making a sham of homeland security at our newly-threatened border to Canada. Your contribution will go directly to the 2008 campaign. We are a political party. We do not have paid consultants or experts, no paid workers to put up signs or to distribute campaign materials. Not even gasoline money. All work is done by volunteers. But, by law, we must pay upfront for all materials purchased, all radio, newspaper and mail advertising, all brochures, signs and rentals. All polls report that American voters are very unhappy with President Bush and Bushites who include Sen. John McCain, we are unhappy with our disastrous involvement in Iraq, with the declining state of the economy, the enriching of the wealthy at the expense of America’s workers and retirees. And, the ever-present threat of inflation, led by the price of gasoline. The pollsters say Americans vote out of fear rather than facts, but if Americans express their fear for the future of our country, our jobs, our security, our endangered young men, we will give the fullest support possible to electing Democrats in November.
